Virtual Aurality – Holophonic Sound

The audio files were recorded using a dummy head with two microphones situated where the ears should be. The resulting recording is so real, if you close your eyes while listening to the Virtual Haircut clip, you actually get goosebumps by the realism (wait for the electric clipper to get near your ear). Awesome!

This is a fun game - you fly (that's where the umbrella comes handy) and land on the roof of a car/van/bus. The longer you fly and the smoother you land, the better you score.

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn’t seem to be breathing, and his eyes are rolled back in his head.
The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: “My friend is dead! What do I do?”
The operator, in a calm, soothing voice, says: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.”
There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy’s voice comes back on the line. He says: “Okay, now what?”
Podiobooks – free audiobooks
Audiobook (noun) - A book in audio form (duh!)
Podiobooks.com has a lot of free audiobooks, submitted by authors directly (you can interact with the authors on the site). The books are released in chapters, as a podcast. I've listened to a few chapters, and the quality of work is really high - great for that commute to work and back!
BMW – paving the road to the future
Most of the automotive advancements publicised are about alternative fuel, or about faster, more powerful cars. This one from BMW sheds light on the breakthroughs made in construction design. This car is made of a carbon fibre wireframe, covered by a fabric, which means the car can change its shape for either aesthetic or aerodynamic purposes. Watch the video, and be amazed.

Apologies for not blogging as frequently as before - here's a terrific game to break the boredom. Keep spinning the scene till the ball (directed by gravity) falls into the black hole. Much, much tougher than it looks :-(

Folder Size – see what’s hogging your free space
Folder Size Shell Extension is a very handy freeware utility that lets you see the sizes of all the subfolders within a folder, in a hierarchical fashion - great way to find out why your mighty(?) 200GB hard drive is cramped for free space.
Once you run it, it sits as a tab in the Properties context menu (yes, the one where you right-click-on-folder-then-click-Properties). You can then drill down into child folders, sort by name/size, change the units between KB/MB/GB ...
