Are you sure?

Posted In: Jokes by Akash

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn’t seem to be breathing, and his eyes are rolled back in his head.

The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: “My friend is dead! What do I do?”

The operator, in a calm, soothing voice, says: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.”

There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy’s voice comes back on the line. He says: “Okay, now what?”

Podiobooks - free audiobooks

Posted In: Misc by Akash

Audiobook (noun) - A book in audio form (duh!)

Podiobooks.com has a lot of free audiobooks, submitted by authors directly (you can interact with the authors on the site). The books are released in chapters, as a podcast. I’ve listened to a few chapters, and the quality of work is really high - great for that commute to work and back!

Most of the automotive advancements publicised are about alternative fuel, or about faster, more powerful cars. This one from BMW sheds light on the breakthroughs made in construction design. This car is made of a carbon fibre wireframe, covered by a fabric, which means the car can change its shape for either aesthetic or aerodynamic purposes. Watch the video, and be amazed.

Spin it!

Posted In: Online Games by Akash

Apologies for not blogging as frequently as before - here’s a terrific game to break the boredom. Keep spinning the scene till the ball (directed by gravity) falls into the black hole. Much, much tougher than it looks :-(

Folder Size Shell Extension is a very handy freeware utility that lets you see the sizes of all the subfolders within a folder, in a hierarchical fashion - great way to find out why your mighty(?) 200GB hard drive is cramped for free space.

Once you run it, it sits as a tab in the Properties context menu (yes, the one where you right-click-on-folder-then-click-Properties). You can then drill down into child folders, sort by name/size, change the units between KB/MB/GB …

You can download the utility from Softpedia or from PCWorld

How much longer?

Posted In: Jokes by Akash

Ted was recalling a story about his first skydiving instructor:

During class he would take time to answer any of our stupid First Timer Questions. One guy asked: “If our chute doesn’t open…..and the reserve doesn’t open, how long do we have till we hit the ground?”

Our jump master looked at him and with a perfectly straight face answered: “The rest of your life.”

Banksy Graffiti

Posted In: Misc by Akash

Banksy (a pseudonym) is probably the most (in)famous graffiti artist in Britain. His works are mostly satirical takes on politics, governance, culture etc. Graffiti blurs the line between public art and vandalism, with much of Banksy’s work being erased by graffiti-cleanup crews. In most places, his art has been declared as vandalism; though in some cases, it has been allowed to remain by public consensus.

Banksy’s website offers a rich experience; watch freedom of expression at work…

Some of his works:

Banksy - 1

Banksy - 2

Banksy - 3

Banksy - 4

Banksy - 5
